“எவ்வளோ கேவலமான பிறவிங்கல்ல நம்ம?”
I think that suffices the film totally.
Happy and proud to say ‘Guru’ Mani Ratnam hits back hard. I would never say it’s a comeback. He was, is and will be there attached to films!
When a film doesn’t work, we throw all mud on the creator saying that he is done once in for all! And this man keeps on entertaining us, adapting to the changing generations without changing his unflinching ideologies.
I see him in deep revere, even at this age, he is into this tough game of film making and shines as a trendsetter too!
Mani Sir and Santosh Sivan combo is as usual - transcending us into their world!
I loved Arvind Swamy and his role, which remains close to my heart. He just made a deep stamp with the character ‘Varadan’. His casual body language, raging anger, cunning smile, deluging lust, and places where he melts admitting his wrongs! This man is out-of-the-world! Couldn’t move my attention from Varadan in the entire film. Arvind Swamy’s voice is so intriguing and I feel Mani sir used it perfectly. In recent days, after ‘Thani Oruvan’, another best from Arvind Swamy!
Then it was Actor Thiyagarajan. Though his role could have been explored more, I felt Thiyagarajan got a right role after his good old days. It’s the same old dreadful look of Thiyagarajan’s eyes, that added the right flavor to his role!
And at last Vijay Sethupathi. I feel it’s a perfect casting and none other than Vijay Sethupathi can carry the role ‘Rasool’. Mani sir knew VJS’s natural body language and mannerisms and used it aptly.
And all other casting were good. Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aishwarya Rajesh, Prakash Raj, Aditi Rao Hydari, proved their best!
AR Rahman too gave his best through BGM and songs.
And finally I quote these lines about the film,
‘No man is perfect!’
‘When men are flawed, everything is flawed!’
‘ஆண்புத்தி அவசர புத்தி!’
‘ஆவதும் ஆணாலே! அழிவதும் ஆணாலே!’
‘பழி வாங்க துடிக்கும் மனது, பாழாகும் மண்ணோடு!’
Completely loved and enjoyed the film!
